About Mabel

mabel schoonerMabel is a 28 ft. ketch-rigged open boat, reminiscent of a 19th century fishing craft called the Nomans Land boat. Mabel was designed by Vineyard student Myles Thurlow under the tutelage of acclaimed wooden boat designer Nat Benjamin at Gannon and Benjamin Marine Railway. In 2003, she made her maiden voyage from Martha’s Vineyard to New York City and up the Hudson River to participate in the Clearwater Hudson River Revival. She is the flagship of the Vineyard Voyagers fleet.
